Written and Directed by Caspeer, "Once Upon a Time" is a poetic tragicomedy that blends nostalgia, irony, and emotion, moving between the present on Grandfather Suleiman’s balcony and the past. As the grandfather and his grandson Karim meet for their weekly tea, their banter contrasts two generations, one that writes heartfelt letters and one that sends emojis. From this contrast, the grandfather tells four love stories about his friends, each exploring a different face of fear, from fear of honesty and reality to fear of commitment and loss. The play culminates in the grandfather's central message to his grandson: “When you love, be afraid for love, not of it. Don’t run , fear never protects the heart.”
