Music in films is not just a background element; it plays a crucial role in storytelling and conveying emotions.
In this one-of-a-kind workshop with Khaled Al Kammar, you will learn how to create a unique musical identity for each project, understand your role as a composer, and master the dynamics of working with directors and editors to achieve a cohesive artistic vision.
Khaled Al Kammar is one of the leading film composers in the Arab world, with over 25 film and TV projects, including “Qabeel”, “Al Ekhteyar”, “Paranormal”, and “Wesh Fe Wesh”, as well as international films like “Valley Road”. He has received multiple awards, most notably the State Encouragement Award in Arts in 2021 and the Hollywood Music in Media Award, becoming the first Egyptian to win it.
In this 3-day workshop, you’ll learn all about:
- The composer’s role in storytelling, not just background music.
- Key differences between Egyptian, European, and Hollywood film scores.
- Defining the musical approach based on the film’s context.
- Collaborating with directors and editors to shape the final vision.
- Creating a theme map and identifying the project’s key theme.
This workshop is for Intermediates. There will be an in-class and after-class assignment and you will receive a certificate upon the full completion of your workshop and assignment.
